The whole car completely restored: Rebuilt Chassis, rebuilt gearbox, many new parts.

CHEVRON B24

Chassis B24-72-5 was supplied late 1973 as a replacement car by Chevron when original car (24-73-5) was written off in practice by James Dunkel at Road Atlanta in August 1973. The replacement car was requested to have forward facing roll bars (due to the accident) and these were later incorporated into the B28 cars. Car has unbroken ownership record and comes with original log books from January 1974 together with later Australian COD and current logbook.

The car was later converted to Cam Am car as many F5000’s were, but later restored in 1995 back to original F5000 specification. The car has been extensively rebuilt/race prepped since 2012 and features one race meeting old all new race engine (500 plus hp) and one race meeting old gearbox refreshed with new bearings, gears, CWP, diff, etc. Car also converted to CV joints and has recent crack test certificates. Car comes with spare bodywork including nose cone mould.

Car is in excellent race ready condition. Potential to be front running car with talented younger driver and further set up testing.

1967 ME-PRE FORMULA NACIONAL/FORMULA SEAT ROLLING CHASSIS.

This car was professionally constructed in 1967 by Antonio Albacete – a very successful driver of various Minis, and well known Spanish garage owner. The Me-Pre was closely based on the Brabham BT21 – in fact the previous owner bought it believing he had found a Brabham F3 car…….

The car passed in to the hands of Chevron Heritage early in 2014 as part of a “larger deal” involving a wide range of engine and gearbox parts as well as the Me-Pre rolling chassis itself. The previous owner bought the car along with an MAE engine, a Hewland Mk6 gearbox and a bunch of other MAE parts. He was informed that it had raced as a 1 litre F3 car and may even have been incorrectly identified as a Brabham at that time.

Areas of damage on the spaceframe have been straightened as appropriate by Chevron Heritage to ensure that it is straight! A current specification roll hoop and seat belt mountings have been fitted and following shot blasting the frame has been powder coated.
It comes with:
  • Nose/cockpit body section (the screen is broken, but can be used a pattern for a replacement)
  • Underbody
  • Front and rear uprights (fronts are Triumph type, rears cast magnesium alloy)
  • Wishbones
  • Radiator
  • Original fuel tank
  • Steering rack
  • Dash panel
  • Road springs
  • And numerous small parts.

Most if not all of the missing parts are proprietary, having come from common road cars of the time such as the 100E etc.
Due to their age we would recommend fabricating new wishbones – using the old ones as pattern.

A very realistic restoration project at the very realistic price of £9800.

This Formula Atlantic car was the unique works car originally driven by John Lepp. It was then sold to USA but returned to UK in the mid-1980’s when it was bought by Chevron. It has remained in the Chevron private collection since that time.

Along with the other cars in the Chevron collection it was taken to USA in 2003 where restoration work was started but not completed.

In 2014 it was bought back to the Chevron workshop in England where the restoration work has recently continued.

The B20 has new bodywork, wheels, wing and fuel tanks and will be sold in fully restored condition.

Rolling Chassis excluding engine and gearbox £48,000 or complete with new – but correct historic specification FT200 gearbox, £60,000.

This Formula Two car is the works B20 that was raced extensively by Peter Gethin, including a win at the Pau F2 race in 1972. This car that was owned by Alex Lowe who used it to win a number of Formula 4 races between 1977 and 1980. The car was purchased from Alex Lowe for the Chevron collection in 1986.

Along with the other cars in the Chevron collection it was taken to USA in 2003 where restoration work was undertaken between 2003 and 2006.

In 2014 it was bought back to the England where the car will undergo “refreshing” prior to sale.

Rolling Chassis including gearbox £60,000 or complete with correct specification engine £70,000. The engine is complete but has not been run for 10 years so will need a check before it is raced.
